With four cabins, a private chef, onboard yoga instructor, expert crew members, and a collection of high-end adventure gear, sailing Mallorca with In Adventures offers an intimate, upscale alternative to Yacht Week.
Is there anything more glamorous than sailing the Mediterranean on a private sailboat? I've wanted to go on a sailing trip since college, when it seemed all of my friends forked over thousands of dollars to move their frat parties from the streets of Cambridge to boats anchored off the shores of Croatia and Greece. But the infamous Yacht Week has never really been my style - too many champagne showers and people and not enough sailing and local culture - and chartering my own private boat for a week has always been far beyond my budget.
Which is why I was thrilled to discover In Adventures and the innovative way they've combined the best of experiential, luxury, and adventure travel. Owned and operated by three Mallorquin friends completely smitten with their island home, In Adventures is more National Geographic than MTV and offers the opportunity to see the stunning natural beauty of Mallorca like a local. No crowded beaches, no mega parties at sea, no kitschy tourist traps - just you, the picturesque coastline, and some of the most jaw-droppingly blue water you'll ever see or swim in. Every detail is taken care of (no grocery shopping or supply runs here!) but you're still provided with the opportunity to choose your own adventures and to set your own pace.
As someone who gets bored of all-inclusive beach vacations by my fourth Pina Colada but who also usually needs a post-vacation vacation, this sailing trip hit just the right balance of adrenaline packed experiences and restorative relaxation. Yoga sessions on the beach where you actually salute the sun with your sun salutations; afternoons spent catching up with a book as your feet dangle over the edge of the boat; coastline hikes with sweeping panoramic views; crisp morning dips in the ocean; peaceful sunset kayak trips; a heart-stopping rappel over the edge of an oceanside cliff, and a once in a lifetime chance to explore deep inside Mallorca's cave system, swimming underneath stalactites through underground lakes as smooth and clear as glass. Every day offers a new agenda featuring personalized experiences specially tailored to your interests.
The best part about a sailing trip, however, is that the journey - and the time on the boat - is every bit as wonderful as the destinations. The world-class onboard chef prepared some of the healthiest, most delicious, locally sourced food I have ever had on a trip - let alone on a boat! - and I'd happily fly back to Mallorca just for another bite of his paella. They also provided a curated collection of Mallorquin wines and brought a local sommelier and wine maker aboard for a sunset wine tasting. Most importantly, the In Adventures crew was professional, accommodating, friendly, and engaging. They created such a warm, intimate ambience from the moment everyone stepped onboard that it very much felt like I'd simply been invited sailing with the hip, handsome Spanish friends I wish I had. They're also passionate about taking care of the earth and only offer eco-friendly sailing trips that help ensure Mallorca's gorgeous seas will remain the same stunning shade of blue for generations to come.
I really can't recommend this trip enough! There is simply no better way to enjoy the Mediterranean and I am already trying to round up a group of my best gal pals for another trip next year!
If you're ready to create your own Mallorquin adventure, there are still spots left for the September trip! Spots are filling up fast but you can block a spot for 72 hours with no commitment. And be sure to use TRAMONTANETRAVEL for an extra 5 percent off!

Thanks to In Adventures for the invitation to go sailing! As always, all opinions are my own, and I only recommend things that I also personally recommend to my closest family and friends!
